10KGenie FAQ
1. What Is 10KGenie?
10KGenie is a research site for financial data about US public companies. Most of its financial data comes from SEC filings. SEC means the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
2. What Is Free?
Every feature is free for now. The Terms page has the full rules.
3. Where Does the Financial Data Come From?
Most financial data comes from public SEC filings. Statement views include Income, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow. Source links are available where the service can provide them.
4. Where Do Prices Come From?
A licensed market data provider supplies the end-of-day prices. The Terms page names the provider in section 7a.
5. Does the Technical Chart Update in Real Time?
No. Technical Chart uses end-of-day prices. It offers daily, weekly, and monthly views.
6. When Do Prices Update?
We update prices after the close of each US trading day. Each price shows the date of its close. Price history is adjusted for stock splits, and total returns include dividends.
7. When Do Financial and Research Data Update?
Financial data updates after we process new SEC filings. This usually takes a few business days.
Each data set has its own update cycle. Financial statements follow new SEC filings. Footnote data follows the SEC monthly data sets. Institutional holdings follow quarterly Form 13F filings.
8. Can the Data Be Wrong?
Yes. Filings can contain errors, companies can restate figures, and automatic processing can make mistakes. Data can be late, incomplete, or wrong.
Check important figures against the source filing.
9. Why Is a Value or Page Unavailable?
The service may lack a required filing, input, or verified company match. Some calculations do not suit every company type. The interface gives reasons where available.
10. How Does Screen Companies Work?
Screen Companies is the screener. It filters companies using SEC data, such as margins, growth, debt, and institutional holdings. It does not screen on market prices, price multiples, yields, or returns.
11. Can I Share or Export a Screen?
Copy Link keeps the filters, columns, and sort in the link. Downloads contain at most 1,000 matching rows of SEC data. The screener does not offer downloads on phones.
12. What Is the Dividend Safety Score?
The Dividend Safety Score measures historical dividend coverage on a scale from 0 to 100. It combines Payout, Cash and Capital, Balance Sheet and Dividend Record. It does not predict future dividends.
13. How Does the Dividend Safety Score Handle Missing Data?
With three usable factors, the score divides the earned points by the available maximum and multiplies by 100. With fewer than three usable factors, the score shows no result. The score is at most 39 when payout and cash cover are both in their two lowest bands.
A cut is a fiscal year in which dividends per share fall more than 10% below the year before. If a company began paying dividends after the 3-year factor window, we score it on its other factors when at least 3 remain. Otherwise we show it as not scored, with the date its dividend began. We do not score a company when its latest annual report is more than 550 days old.
14. What Does Fair Value Show?
Fair Value contains models based on financial data and your assumptions. A discounted cash flow model estimates future cash flows and converts them to a present value. The result is your estimate, not a promised price.
15. What Does the Reverse Model Show?
What the Price Implies uses a reverse discounted cash flow calculation. It finds the growth rate or operating margin that fits the price under the other assumptions. The calculation can return no result.
16. Can I Compare Companies?
Compare Companies supports up to four companies. The table uses each company’s own latest fiscal year. Matching fiscal-year labels can cover different months.
17. How Much Financial History Is Available?
As of October 2026, about 8,970 companies have annual statements and about 9,370 have quarterly statements. The median company shows 10 fiscal years and 30 quarters. History depends on what each company filed in XBRL.
18. Does 10KGenie Recommend Investments?
No. 10KGenie provides information. It does not recommend buying, selling, or holding a security.
10KGenie provides information, not investment advice.
